Review:
Texas musicians, Liquid Casing, are made up of four members who dabble in experimental, ethnic, and psychedelic sound. Their new album, ‘A Separate|Divide’ is broken into nine tracks, but is really one long journey that will test you mentally. For those undecided on progressive rock and roll, I suggest you pour yourself a cocktail on the rocks. This music is meant to be digested.
It doesn’t take long to appreciate what this band is doing. “A Path of Footprints Forged in the Midnight Sun” is a musical journey, showcasing several instruments including the sax and keyboards. “Fingerprint Armada” and “For a Memory Erased” are my favorites, showcasing the volatile sound that is unpredictable, yet works together to provide a cool head-nodding melody. Can psychedelic rock really groove? When it’s done right it can.
Liquid Casing pushes the envelope with ‘A Separate|Divide’, but doesn’t stray too far into the experimental realm. Be prepared, this is not a “one song” album: you will want to set aside some time to take it all in (Tip: be sure you have extra ice for your drinks).
